Nordlys Viking
Viking seax, British Isles. Blunted edge
This hand-forged seax was one of the Vikings' favorite weapons and features a blade shape very typical of the British Isles. The model is based on several finds of this type of long, single-edged knife with a triangular blade. The handle is made of polished ash, with a brass bolster, pommel, and ring. Please note that this product refers only to the knife without a sheath.
The blade is hand-forged from carbon steel, oil-tempered, and then traditionally annealed. The blade is marked with the Nordlys™ "smith's mark" so you can be sure the seax comes from our forge.
The shape of the edge and tip on this model is adapted to meet Scandinavian requirements for use in combat reenactment, historical fencing, and reenactment battles. On our combat seaxes, the blade is guaranteed by Nordlys for historical fencing and reenactment combat. Nordlys blunted seaxes are approved for historical fencing and combat according to Scandinavian practice and regulations.
