Necklace Balder

Baldr was Odin's son. According to the sagas, the most flawless of all gods. In the necklace named after him, we have combined the wolf cross as a symbol of Odin and the Mjolnir as a symbol of Thor. The wolf cross hangs on a natural fiber thread decorated with beads and the Mjolnirs on a leather cord. This necklace is part of our design series of complete pagan necklaces, where we combine various historic pendants with leather, bone, and horn to create a Viking jewellery piece that suits everyone, then as now. Since organic materials like leather, wood, and horn do not survive in the ground over time, we do not know much about what Viking jewellery looked like. What we do find is the metal, stone, and glass that has been preserved. With these necklaces, we have therefore created a vision of how this jewellery might have been put together and worn. For the pendants and other metal details, we have used a casting alloy completely free from nickel, lead, and cadmium. The metal has either a bronze or pewter finish.
