Viking scissors, Gotland. Blunt edge

 This hand-forged scissor or saex was one of the favorite weapons of the Vikings and has a blade shape very typical of the British Isles. The model is based on several finds of this type of long single-edged combat knives. Above all, many variants are found on Gotland. The handle is in polished ash. The blade is hand forged in carbon steel and hardened with oil and then tempered in the traditional way. The blade is marked with the Nordlys™ "blacksmith's mark" so you can be sure that the scissors come from our forge. 

The edge and tip shape on this model is adapted to meet the Scandinavian requirements for use in battle, historical fencing and reenactment combat.
