Viking scissors, Gotland. Blunt edge

 This hand-forged seax was one of the Vikings' favorite weapons and features a blade shape very typical of the British Isles. The model is based on several finds of this type of long, single-edged combat knife, with many variants notably found on Gotland. The handle is made of polished ash. Guard, pommel, and ring in brass. The blade is hand-forged from carbon steel and oil-tempered, then traditionally annealed. The blade is marked with the Nordlys™ maker's mark so you can be sure the seax comes from our forge.

The shape of the edge and tip on this model is adapted to meet Scandinavian requirements for use in combat reenactment, historical fencing, and combat reenactment.
