Nordlys Viking
Yellow glass bead, Gotland, 100 grams
A small yellow composite bead, found during excavations in Hellvi on Gotland in Sweden. The bead was found along with other glass and carnelian (stone) beads. The originals are from the Viking Age. Gotland is one of the "treasure-richest" places in the world. The glass bead is a historical reproduction and handmade using the same technique—melting glass rods on a metal pin—that the Vikings used.
