Helmet Viking Gjermundbu

For our hand-forged reproduction of this famous Viking helmet, we have based our work on drawings of the find and tried to get as close to the original as possible. We have adjusted the size and fitted it with a leather liner featuring a suspension system and chin strap. Just like the original, the helmet is reinforced with crisscrossing curved bands. It is also both welded on the inside and riveted on the outside to achieve the highest level of safety. Unlike the original, the dome of the helmet is made in only two gore-shaped pieces instead of four, which also gives the helmet increased impact resistance.

The original Gjermundbu helmet is the only preserved Viking helmet from Scandinavia. It was discovered during excavations of a wealthy warrior grave not far from Oslo, the capital of Norway. In addition to the helmet, it contained everything else a Viking warrior could possibly need, such as swords, axes, spears, and a shield.
